Jack, Henry and Science!
One thing I love about living on the ocean is the countless teaching opportunities there are. We strive to teach our kids that learning isn't just about "school" even though we do have dedicated time for it. Our hope is that they will embrace and love learning.
So moments when we find a sea cucumber or sea star attached to the dock, and can reach down, feel it, talk about it, or even hold the creature are exciting moments where learning is alive and real and without the label of "school."
One of my most cherished and dearest friends, Summer came to visit us with her two boys just before we departed Channel Islands Harbor. Our boys and Jack and Henry have been friends from birth. Right as we were saying our goodbyes we found a really big sea star. Chris was able to pull it up so the kids could all get a close look at it.
